Rideshare Week was held the first week in October — Oct. 5-9. This annual statewide campaign promotes carpooling, transit and other alternatives to driving alone as a means of easing traffic congestion and improving air quality. Here's how it worked:
- Thousands of pledge cards were distributed to commuters throughout the Kern region
- An extensive publicity campaign helped get the word out
- Commuters pledged to ride share at least one day during Rideshare Week 2009 — It's a Total Trip
- Prizes were awarded to lucky participants.
- FREE Cup of Coffee Offer*
Participants could show their completed pledge cards at one of the following locations for a free cup of coffee:
Kohnen's Bakery in Tehachapi
Pappy's Coffee Shop in Bakersfield & Shafter
Espresso Cafe in Ridgecrest
Java Detour in Bakersfield (2 or more people in car required)
Taft Crude Coffee House in Taft
